About the Author - Ashley Ormond

I have spent over 20 years in the finance game, working with major Australian and International Banking groups, including over 10 years at senior executive levels running various business units and divisions. I also run a private consultancy advising businesses and business owners on corporate finance and strategy.

I have been a director of a range of companies, including public companies (including ASX-listed), unlisted public companies, private companies, and not-for-profit organisations (including an independent school and a charitable foundation).

My formal qualifications include:

I'm the owner and principal of Investing 101 Pty Ltd, which holds an Australian Financial Services Licence - No. 301808. See the link at bottom of this page for full details.

I'm not involved in selling courses, trading systems or any other type of ‘get-rich-quick’ scheme.  I simply wrote these books to provide information on building long term wealth for ordinary Australians, many of whom can’t afford the services of financial planners or other professionals unless they already have a large investment fund to start with.

I don't receive any commissions, kick-backs or any other type of financial or non-financial benefits from anybody or any company or product provider used in the plan or mentioned in the books or in this web site. I don't sell any products, apart from my books.

We're living proof that the plan works...

The plan outlined in the books works. My wife and I have been investing together for many years.  We bought our first investment in 1986, which was before we were married. We both had busy careers working full time running divisions and business units in large global companies for 20 years from the early 1980s to the early 2000s.  About 5 years ago we realized that, despite our incomes from working full-time, we had always made more money from our shares and properties than we made from working. We learned a very important lesson: that income from working pays the bills, but it doesn’t build wealth. Only investing builds wealth.  Fortunately we were able to stop working while the kids are still young, and live off our investments.

I have lived in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Singapore, Los Angeles and Washington.  We now live in Sydney, and are bringing up our two kids - a 13 year old daughter and a 7 year old son. They are also building investment funds of their own by following the $1 per day plan outlined in the books.

Where the money goes...

At least fifty percent of the author’s royalties from the sale books go to the AJKM Charity Foundation (ABN 38 788 499 680) which is a registered charitable foundation that provides assistance to a range of causes, including disadvantaged families and children in Australia and developing countries, and medical research.

My wife and I started out with nothing and worked hard for 20 years until we were about 40. We live in the best city in the best country in the world, we have everything we want, and we have enough investments that can provide us with all we could possibly want for the rest of our lives.  Our luck is a pure accident of fate.

On the other hand, hundreds of millions of people are suffering in other countries (and even some in other parts of Australia) simply because of when and where they happen to have been born, through no fault of their own – suffering because of family circumstances, disease, civil wars, religious conflicts, corrupt governments, despotic dictators, natural disasters, and dozens of other reasons not of their own making. We established the AJKM Charity Foundation as a way of helping people less fortunate than ourselves.

Royalties from my first book (How to Give Your Kids $1million - Each) go to the Smith Family's "Learning for Life" program, which provides educational support for disadvantaged kids in Australia - including money for books, literacy programs, technology support and educational assistance in remote and disadvantaged areas.  (see www.thesmithfamily.com.au/)

Royalties from my second book ($1million for life) go to World Vision’sMicro Enterprise Development Program” to fund the establishment and running of a new community bank in a rural township in northern Swaziland. Swaziland is a small country between South Africa and Mozambique. It suffers from chronic poverty and has the highest per-capita HIV infection rate in the world (over 40% of the population). There are 120,000 orphans out of a total population of only 1 million people, and life expectancy is under 35 years. The new community bank established by royalties from this book provides essential low-cost funding to families with small enterprises to help them generate money for food, health care and education for their children, and also create employment opportunities in the local community. (see: www.worldvision.org/worldvision/appeals.nsf/stable/med_home)

Your purchase of my books will directly benefit hundreds of children and families in these programs. Your assistance will go a long way toward improving their lives. Thank you.
